Privacy, explained plainly.

Cairn Intelligence is building Cairn Vault, a file storage and sharing service designed with privacy in mind. This working draft explains the approach we expect to take. It is not a final legal notice and will be updated before any public launch or collection of customer data.

What we collect

At this prototype stage, the website does not provide accounts, file uploads, payments, or production storage. If you contact us by email or request early access, we may receive the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address, and message.

Website analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on the public information pages to understand aggregate website usage, such as page views and general performance. The analytics script is not loaded on the Vault prototype and lab routes, where files and keys may exist in browser memory. Cloudflare may process technical information needed to provide the analytics service. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for more information.

How we use information

We expect to use contact information to reply to enquiries, manage early access requests, improve the product, and protect the service from misuse. We do not intend to sell personal information.

Files and encryption

The current encryption lab runs locally in your browser and does not upload or transmit the selected test file. It is a prototype and is not production Cairn Vault storage. Before accepting real files, we will document the production encryption design, the metadata the service can see, retention, deletion, recovery, and sharing behaviour.

If sharing is introduced, expiry, download limits, and revocation will be enforced and reported by the server rather than by cryptography. Those controls can stop an honest service from serving a key envelope, but they cannot recall plaintext that someone has already downloaded.

Service providers

When services are introduced, we will identify the relevant providers and explain what they process. We will keep access limited to what is needed to operate and secure Cairn.

Your choices and rights

You may contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, or withdraw an early-access request. We will provide the final process and applicable legal details before launch.
